Paws, Purrs & Properties: Welcoming Pets at BCBL Property Management

We Can’t Promise Every Unit Is Pet-Friendly—But When They Are, We’re All In

Let’s be real—pets are family. Whether you’ve got a goofy golden retriever, a chill tabby cat, or a high-energy little side-kick who thinks the world revolves around them (because it does), we get it. At BCBL Property Management, we love our animal renters almost as much as our human ones. Almost.

While we can’t guarantee that every unit we manage is pet-friendly (some owners and buildings have their own rules), when we do have a pet-welcoming space, we’re all in. Open arms, tail wags, head scratches—all of it.

Why Pets Matter to Us
We’ve seen first-hand how much joy, companionship, and comfort pets bring to people’s lives. After all, most of us on the BCBL team have our own fur babies at home. So when a tenant asks, “Can my dog come too?”—trust us, we’re crossing our fingers right along with you that the answer is yes.

We believe that finding a place to live shouldn’t mean leaving your best friend behind. That’s why we do our best to offer pet-friendly options when we can, and we always advocate for responsible, respectful pet ownership with the landlords we work with.

What to Expect in a Pet-Friendly BCBL Unit
When you’re lucky enough to snag a pet-approved rental with us, here’s what you can expect:

  • A warm welcome for both you and your pet (yes, we’ll probably ask their name and what kind of treats they like)
  • Clear guidelines and expectations, so everyone—human and animal—can live happily and respectfully
  • Responsive maintenance (because accidents happen, and we’re here to help)
  • A landlord who knows about the pet—no shady “just sneak them in and hope” energy here
Tips for Pet Parents Renting With Us
Here’s how to keep things smooth and stress-free:
  • Be honest about your pet from the start. We love transparency—it helps us find the right fit for everyone.
  • Be a respectful neighbour (clean up after them, keep barking to a minimum, and leash up in common areas).
  • Keep us in the loop if anything changes—new pet, pet gets bigger, etc. We’re here to work with you.

As a property owner, your goal is to maximize your rental income while maintaining a well-kept property. Here are some strategies to help you achieve this balance and ensure a profitable and stress-free rental experience. Set the Right Rental Price: Conduct market research to set a competitive rental price. Pricing your property correctly attracts quality tenants and reduces vacancy periods. Consider factors like location, amenities, and property condition. Invest in Quality Upgrades: Small upgrades can significantly increase your property’s value. Modern kitchens, updated bathrooms, and energy-efficient appliances attract higher-paying tenants and can justify higher rent prices. Screen Tenants Thoroughly: Conducting thorough tenant screenings can save you from future headaches. Check references, employment status, and credit scores to ensure you’re renting to reliable individuals who will pay on time and care for your property. Maintain Regular Inspections: Schedule regular inspections to ensure your property is well-maintained. This practice helps identify and address issues early, preventing costly repairs down the line and keeping tenants happy. Build a Good Relationship with Tenants: Happy tenants are more likely to renew their leases. Foster a good relationship by being responsive to their needs and addressing maintenance requests promptly. A satisfied tenant means stable income and reduced turnover.
